My Love, My Husband…I Will Fight for You

A question was asked so long ago. It should have left my mind, but it wouldn’t go.

You once asked if I would fight for you, but I was not able to say that was true.

But here I sit now; many years have gone by and through that time, I realized my “No” was a lie.

So now to put into words what my heart wants to say. Yes, I will fight for you, and I do every day.

My love, do you not see…every day I fight this illness, it is for you, not me?

Be still and listen to what I am trying to say; it is for you I get up in the morning and fight through the pain.

And it is you I fight for as I push to work, even when my mind says, “I can’t take anymore”.

And my dearest husband, if you didn’t already know, I fight for you when I pray, every night and every day.

My love, my husband, I may not fight the intended war, but I will always fight for you in ways that matter so much more.

“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:7 ESV
